for the area and the prospects
The water in the dam-lake is ecologically clean and there are many houses, villas and hotels built over the high slopes of the Wastern Rhodopes. Dense century-old forests of spruce and scots pine are surrounding the entire dam-lake. Various kinds of fish are inhabiting the lake – european perch, carp, danube bleak, flathead mullet, common rudd and trout. This is a good predisposition for developing sport and industrial fishing.
The interest to the region and Dospat dam-lake has increased significantly during the past few years. As investors from all over the world state Dospat dam-lake will very soonbecome as popular as the Italian alpine lakes: Como, Grada and Maggiore
